D86 Teachers Read AP Exams

Heather Alejandro, Spanish teacher

District 86 teachers lent their expertise to College Board and further developed their own teaching skills by grading advanced placement exams this summer. Spanish teacher Amy Piccoli says, “participating in the AP reading offers some of the best professional development. The in-depth knowledge of the AP rubrics is invaluable when preparing my students for this rigorous exam.”

As so many experiences in 2020, AP reading happened remotely. Of this, English teacher Kate Saunders says, “traveling away from home for a week would be very difficult for my family, so I was thrilled to be able to finally participate in AP reading this year from home. Reading over 650 AP English Literature essays has helped me think about where I can improve my teaching, but it also reinforced that the AP Lit team is doing great work with our students.”
