#ApartTogether: Ms. McPhillips

Ms. April McPhillips at her at-home work and sewing station.

April McPhillips from the Hinsdale Central FACS Department has been engaging her students in a number of hands-on lab classes, providing them with choices and different opportunities to demonstrate their understanding.  As McPhillips described, students can “complete a lab documenting their culinary process or analyze different recipes, work on their individualized sewing projects and upload their progress to flip grid or go on a virtual field trip to a museum focusing on fashion from the 1700-1900s.” Although this requires a lot of creativity from McPhillips, she reports that she’s been receiving positive feedback from her students.

We may be apart from our students and apart from our colleagues, but we are still together!
