The Hinsdale High School Teachers association aims to inspire excellence everyday. Take a look at the teachers that were recognized locally and nationally during the first quarter of the 2015-2016 school year. 
- August 2015: The Illinois Council on Teaching a Foreign Language selected Mary Zaleski and Cherie Lodl from Hinsdale South and Tanya Wallery from Hinsdale Central to spend the summer abroad to bring cultural experiences back to their students.
- August 13, 2015: Leah Giarritano, a library media specialist at Hinsdale Central, was selected to attend a Library of Congress program this summer on how to make resources interesting and relevant to students.
- August 19, 2015: Hinsdale South was recognized by Newsweek magazine as a Top School in America.
- August 19, 2015: Hinsdale South teachers & community members were recognized for their behind-the-scenes support of the football program.
- August 21, 2015: Hinsdale Central’s Laura Milas was recognized at the National Art Education Association’s inaugural class of The School for Art Leaders.
- September 3, 2015: District 86 announced that Hinsdale South and Hinsdale Central continue to significantly outscore students across the state and nation on the ACT.
- September 10, 2015: Hinsdale South teacher Kristin Wimsatt hosted a college application workshop for students and parents to learn how to write high-impact admissions essays.
- September 19, 2015: Hinsdale Central Music teacher Matt Kurinsky received the Symetra Heroes in the Classroom award for his dedication to his students and profession.
- September 24, 2015: Danny Yuska, Hinsdale South Theater Director, inspired students to perform the Broadway musical “I Love You, You’re Perfect, Now Change.”
- September 25, 2015: In conjunction with the League of Women Voters, Jessica Hurt and the Hinsdale Central Social Studies department organized a voter registration drive to cultivate civic values and promote participation in the democratic process.
- September 27, 2015: Hinsdale Central Coach Mike Wiggins was selected for the fifth-annual All-American Game to be held in Raleigh, NC. This year he achieved 30 wins and led Hinsdale Central’s Boys Soccer team to its first state title in 39 years.
- September 28, 2015: The 2015 edition of Hinsdale South’s Illusions Art Magazine was awarded “Best Art Magazine†in the country at the high school level by the American Scholastic Press.
- October 1, 2015: Retired Hinsdale Central Guidance Counselor and swim coach Carol Bobo was inducted to the Hinsdale Central High School Foundation’s Hall of Fame.
- October 2, 2015: Transition Center teacher Heather Riggs was recognized for the program’s student-run handmade card business. Students take the lead in determining what to sell, designing and constructing cards, selling, and filling orders. All profits fund social outings for young adults at the Transition Center.
- October 7, 2015: Hinsdale South’s Emily Polacek held the first meeting of SHAPE, which creates opportunities for Advanced Placement students to enhance their experiences in academically rigorous courses. Mr. Mike Holland, HSHS’ Director of Counseling and Mr. Paul Paeh, HSHS Social Studies Teacher shared tips on how to be successful in AP classes.
